Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, any challenges you're facing, and what you hope to gain from the process. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Many people seek therapy during times of stress, transition, loss, anxiety, relationship challenges, or after difficult life experiences. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want greater self-understanding and emotional well-being, therapy can provide a supportive space for growth and healing.

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process and heal from distressing experiences, trauma, anxiety, and negative beliefs about themselves. EMDR helps the brain reprocess memories that may feel "stuck," reducing emotional distress and allowing for healthier perspectives and greater resilience.

Can EMDR be done online?

Yes. EMDR can be effectively provided through secure telehealth sessions. Therapists are trained to adapt EMDR techniques for virtual therapy using methods that support bilateral stimulation and the reprocessing process. Many clients find online EMDR to be just as effective as in-person treatment, while offering the added convenience and comfort of participating from home.

Do I have to talk about every detail of my trauma for EMDR to work?

No. One of the reasons many people appreciate EMDR is that it does not require you to repeatedly retell or extensively describe painful experiences. While we will identify and work with relevant memories, EMDR allows much of the healing work to happen without needing to share every detail.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients seek short-term support for a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term work focused on deeper healing and personal growth. Together, we'll regularly review your goals and make sure therapy continues to meet your needs.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions, as consistency helps build momentum and supports meaningful progress. Depending on your goals and circumstances, we may adjust the frequency of sessions over time.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. The practice is fully virtual, and all sessions are conducted through a secure telehealth platform. Online therapy offers the flexibility of receiving support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, while eliminating travel time and making therapy more accessible for many clients. Research has shown that telehealth can be an effective way to engage in therapy, including EMDR therapy, for many individuals.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, the practice operates on a private-pay basis and does not accept insurance directly. This approach allows for greater flexibility, privacy, and individualized care. We understand that insurance coverage is important to many clients and hope to expand access through insurance options in the future. If applicable, a superbill can be provided for clients who wish to explore potential out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance plan.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the type of service provided, including EMDR intensives and other extended-format sessions. A standard individual therapy session is 50–55 minutes and is $170 per session.

If you're interested in an EMDR intensive or another specialized service, additional pricing information can be provided during a consultation. I'm happy to discuss options and help determine the approach that best fits your goals and needs.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously, and what you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions related to safety that will be reviewed during the informed consent process.

To learn more about how your information is collected, used, and protected, please review the Privacy Policy, which can be accessed through the link located in the bottom right-hand corner of this website.

How do I know if we're a good fit?

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. A consultation or first session gives us an opportunity to determine whether working together feels like a good fit for your needs and goals. You're encouraged to ask questions and share what you're looking for in a therapist.

Do you work with anxiety, trauma, and PTSD?

Yes. Therapy services may support individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, PTSD, stress, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and other emotional difficulties. Treatment is tailored to your unique experiences and goals.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

That's completely okay. Many clients begin therapy without knowing exactly what to expect. Part of my role is to help you feel comfortable, answer your questions, and guide you through the process. You don't need to have the "right" words or know where to start—showing up is enough.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Reach out through the contact form, phone, or email to schedule a consultation or initial appointment. We'll discuss your needs, answer any questions you may have, and determine the next best steps for moving forward.
